PUBLIC ART, MAPS & COMMISSIONS
Art made for its place.
From two 36-metre public artworks to hundreds of private commissions, I create art that tells the story of a place and the people who love it. Trained in architecture, I understand scale, setting and how people move through a space, so the work belongs where it lives.

WHAT I CREATE
Art that works hard for a place
Every piece starts with the place itself: its history, its landscape, the people who visit, and the story you want to tell.
1
Murals & Public Art
Large-scale artwork for sites, buildings, hoardings and public spaces, designed to engage visitors and give a place a sense of identity.
2
Illustrated Maps
Maps that welcome visitors, show them what to expect and help them find their way, while working just as hard on your website, leaflets and social media.
3
Interpretation & Storytelling
Illustrated boards and visual storytelling for heritage sites, estates and attractions, bringing history and landscape to life for every age.
4
Paintings & Private Commissions
Original paintings and illustrations for homes and as gifts. I've painted hundreds of private commissions, each one made for the person it's for.
5
Illustrated Wallpaper
Bespoke wallpaper designs for hotels, holiday lets and hospitality spaces, made to give a place a personality all of its own.
6
Artwork for Print & Marketing
High-quality files of your artwork for signage, merchandise, websites and campaigns, so one commission keeps working for years.
PUBLIC ART • COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS • MURAL • LEGACY • NATIONAL TRUST
National Trust
A 36-metre mural for the entrance hoarding of a newly acquired site, telling the story of what was evolving behind it.
I designed community workshops in local schools and hubs, where residents helped me paint the site's wildlife species, cut from marine ply and fixed onto the mural. The species were designed to live on and around the site as information and legacy pieces once the hoarding came down.
For the workshops, I created a suite of 'species spotlight' sheets that taught people about each species and guided their colours as they painted, plus a 'nature detectives' trail sheet for visitors to use around the site once it opened.
SELECTED WORK
Two 36-metre artworks, and a map that does two jobs
PUBLIC ART • RESEARCH • ILLUSTRATION • DESIGN • LEGACY • UNIVERSITY OF HULL
University of Hull
An open brief: to research and design an illustrated public bench artwork, celebrating 100 years of the University.
I carried out the research at the University myself, uncovering the stories, people and places that have shaped its first century, then turned them into two double-sided 9 metre artworks, built entirely from my own illustrations.
The design is printed onto tiles and wrapped around the bench seating outside the University Library, turning an everyday place to sit into a celebration of the University's history.
ILLUSTRATED MAP • VISITOR EXPERIENCE • MARKETING
Uncle Henry’s The Secret Garden
A family-friendly map of everything there is to do, from the pumpkin patch and sunflower field to fairy woodland walks and the jumping pillow.
Designed within Uncle Henry’s brand guidelines, and amended for ground updates two years later, it welcomes visitors at the entrance, travels round with them in printed guides, and lets families explore online before they visit.
A helpful guide and a marketing piece in one. The colouring sheet was designed to be used as a fun and practical marketing tool in their cafe which is located next door.
PAINTING AND ILLUSTRATION COMMISSIONS
Hundreds of commissions, each made for someone
A favourite place, a home, a view, a memory or a moment, painted or illustrated as a gift or for your own walls.
I also create commissions for businesses: a thank-you for a client, a leaving or retirement gift for a colleague or boss, or something meaningful for the person who already has everything. I'll listen to what it means to you, then create something that will be treasured.
“I don’t know where to start with how grateful I am. Me and my wife had been wanting a large piece of art as a centre piece but
we had been struggling to settle on a piece. I commissioned a piece of work based on not only a specific place,
but an exact moment in time from our honeymoon. And to say Rebecca delivered feels like an understatement.
This piece of art was a surprise for my wife who immediately recognised the place and time
because Rebecca captured it so perfectly. Again, thank you Rebecca”
Questions
How long does a commission take?
It depends on the scale. A private painting usually takes one month; public art and maps are planned around your timescales, from first conversation to installation.
Can I use the artwork in my marketing?
I’ll agree how the artwork can be used at the start, and can provide files for signage, print, websites and merchandise.
Can you work with our architect or landscape designer?
Yes. With my architecture training, I’m comfortable working alongside design teams, phased projects and site-specific constraints.
How much does it cost?
Every commission is quoted individually. Private paintings start from £1000, and I’ll give you a clear quote before any work begins.
Where do you work?
I’m based in North Yorkshire. Art commissions can be anywhere in the UK, and private paintings can be sent anywhere.
Have a place with a story to tell?
Whether it's a mural, a map or a painting for someone special, I'd love to hear about it.
