Deposit Payment for Painting Commission

£200.00

You’ve got this space in your house that needs ‘finishing off’, you’ve been keeping your eyes peeled but haven’t yet come across anything that is quite right. Sometimes you see things that you think could work really well but it’s not the right size or just a little too bright.

You’re looking for something you fall in love with, something that keeps giving no matter how many times you look at it, something that will last a lifetime.

Commissioning a painting, I understand can be a scary thing to do, it takes trust - it’s a considered purchase and not something that’s done on a whim or indeed that you do every day!

So, with that in mind, let me try to give you a little more information about what’s it’s like to work with me, answer some of the questions that are on your mind and try to put you at ease.

First and foremost, thank you for considering me. I know how many options there are out there and it’s difficult to hone in on where and who to trust your thoughts, vision and money with.

I’m excited that you’re reading this and perhaps thinking about commissioning your own original painting but I’m also a customer myself and understand that it takes time to make decisions, particularly when you’re considering parting with your hard-earned cash. With that in mind, I understand you’ll get in touch when you’re ready, perhaps with some very specific ideas or perhaps just with a loose brief at first.

Your painting will be totally unique to you. If it’s a memory that you would like to be captured and you have a photograph to share with me that you’d like me to work from then great. Equally, if it’s a colour palette you like and you’re not sure exactly what the scene should be then that’s also great, I am an artist after all and I can come up with ideas!

I’m a pro at Photoshop and it was a big part of my work as a CGI artist to ‘make things look real’ even though they don’t exist yet so as part of my commissioning service, I am always happy to create a ‘mock-up’. By this I mean, I can (or ask you to) take measurements and a photo of the space you’re thinking of putting the painting(s) in and get to work on helping you visualise what it/they will look like once complete. Given that each painting is original and unique, the ‘mock-up’ is designed to give you a feel for what the outcome will be, there’s still a process to go through but you can think of it like you would think about having an extension put on your house; this is the planning stage where the architect will draw/model what it’s going to look like and you can play around with the size and layout until you’re satisfied!

Once we’ve reached the point where you’re super happy and excited by what you’re going to receive, I can order the materials and get myself in the mood to paint (don’t worry, that’s my bit to worry about!).

Unlike building an extension, I will give you the opportunity to provide feedback/guidance along the way. My main aim is to achieve 100% happy customer; this doesn’t mean you can completely change direction on what kind of painting you would like - once I’ve started, I’m sticking to the original plans but you can get in on the details - the depth, the tones, the contrast, we work together to achieve the end result.

I’m confident that if you are still reading this then you are here because you appreciate and enjoy my style of painting and are considering commissioning your own piece of art at some point, I can’t wait to chat about what you have in mind and where it’s going to live!

In terms of the actual paint itself, I can either work in acrylic or oils on canvas board or box canvas’, I will talk to you about this when you get in touch or you’re ready to commit. Due to the nature of working in oils, there will be a premium charge and a longer process. I will often finish the paintings with oil pastels and sometimes even sketch in some details with various pens, very much depending on what the painting is and if I feel this is required.

I usually take between 2-4 weeks to complete a piece however if your painting is a gift and/or you require it quicker then please let me know. I do require a minimum of 2 weeks notice.

The price of the final piece(s) will depend upon the size(s) and will be discussed when we chat but to give you an idea, I’ve listed some common sizes below. The prices listed exclude postage & packaging unless you’re local (Lincolnshire), if you’re not I can give you a quote on the cost of P&P once we’ve decided what size painting you are going to be commissioning. The balance payment will be required upon completion of the painting and before delivery.
